On Tuesday, April 1, the HUFS Jean Monnet EU Center (Director Sihong Kim) invited Professor Sungwon Yoon of Suwon University (2024 President of the Korea-EU Society) to the International Hall and Main Building of the Seoul Campus to hold a seminar and special lecture on the topic of ‘European Union Cultural Policy and Korea-EU Relations.’
During the event, Professor Sungwon Yoon emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and explained that discussions between Korea and the EU began in earnest in 2010 when they included an agreement on cultural cooperation as an annex to the Free Trade Agreement. He also emphasized that there are many implications and lessons to be learned from the cases of Europe, which is implementing exemplary cultural policies through projects such as the European Cultural City and European Cultural Heritage.
