About Me
This Can Be Secondary Heading
The HUFS–Jean Monnet EU Centre at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is one of the longest-standing EU-funded Jean Monnet Centres in Korea. Its institutional foundation dates back to the HUFS–Hyundai Research Institute EU Centre (2011–2015), which was directly supported by the European Union. Building on this legacy, the Centre has continuously operated with EU funding through successive Jean Monnet Centre programmes (2016–2019, 2019–2022, 2022–2025), reflecting sustained academic excellence and institutional continuity.
The Centre has played a leading role in advancing European Union studies in Korea through close collaboration with prominent domestic and international research and educational institutions. Its activities include the organization of international academic conferences, joint research initiatives, and the production of scholarly outputs such as academic books and peer-reviewed journal articles. Through these efforts, the Centre has contributed to the development of EU-related research and policy discourse in Korea.
In parallel, the HUFS Jean Monnet EU Centre has established a broad transnational academic network linking Europe, Korea, and the Asia–Pacific region, serving as a key hub connecting European Studies in Korea with Korean Studies in Europe. The Centre also maintains a strong commitment to education and public outreach, offering lectures, certificate programmes, and flagship initiatives such as the University Model Council of the European Union, alongside programmes designed to enhance public understanding of Europe and the EU.
Since December 2025, the Centre has continued its activities under the new Jean Monnet Centre programme supported by the EU. Responding to the evolving demand for deeper Korea–EU cooperation, the Centre remains dedicated to strengthening mutual understanding through sustained research, education, and innovative academic programmes.
