Selection of New Jean Monnet Center 2025-2028

HUFS Jean Monnet EU Centre (Director Kim Si-hong) has been selected for the European Union's public diplomacy project called 'EU Centre (JEAN MONNET Centre of Excellence)' Stage 5 (Jean Monnet Centre Phase 4). This project is a result of the proposal 'EU-Korea Relations at a Crossroads' submitted by the Jean Monnet EU Centre to the European Union Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), which acknowledges our university's academic competitiveness as a hub for European studies not only in South Korea but also in the Asia-Pacific region.

The EU Centre began its Stage 1 project in 2011 in collaboration with the Hyundai Research Institute and has successfully carried out Jean Monnet Centre Phase 1 (2016-2019), Phase 2 (2019-2022), and Phase 3 (2022-2025) afterwards. With this Stage 5 selection, the Jean Monnet EU Centre will continue the activities of Jean Monnet Centre Phase 4 for three years, from December 2025 to November 2028, and will be recognized as a research institute receiving EU support for a total of 16 years.

Additionally, a Jean Monnet Module project has also been selected for this initiative, confirming three years of support for EU-related lectures and educational activities on the theme 'EU and Global Challenges: From Economic Security to Sustainable Governance'. The module will be led by Professor Kang Yoo-duk from the LT Division, and the new director of the Jean Monnet EU Centre will be appointed as Professor Kim Bong-chul from the Division of International Studies.
