On Tuesday, January 21, the HUFS Jean Monnet EU Center (Director Sihong Kim) invited Professor Jinwoo Choi of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Hanyang University to hold an academic seminar on the topic of ‘America, Europe, and Korea’ in the conference room on the 11th floor of the main building of the Seoul Campus. Professor Choi is a senior scholar who served as the president of the Korean Political Science Association in 2015 and has accumulated remarkable research achievements in the field of European politics. At the meeting, the current situation of Europe and Korea in the era of Trump 2.0 was diagnosed and the status of both parties at a turning point was examined from the perspective of the new international order. While the participants expressed considerable concerns about the increase in security costs and the tariff war, they also expressed the opinion that there is an ample room for Korea and the EU to work together to restore the resilience of a rules based free trade order on multilateralism.
